TURA, Feb 28 - The recovery of liquor bottles lying near the yet-to-be inaugurated Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) near the village of Chasingre has not gone down well with residents of the Garo Hills, with most seeking an immediate clamp on such acts.
The presence of such items is a pointer to the fact that miscreants will not leave a stone unturned to find dens for their substance and alcohol abuse. The presence of such litter strewn across one of the most beautiful locations is a mockery in the making unless something is done to curb the menace, said a Tura resident Avinash M Marak.
The recovery of the liquor bottles, which quickly went viral online, saw immediate condemnation with most coming down very hard on the miscreants.
This kind of littering shows the entire community in very poor light and needs to be stopped immediately. The security presence in the area should also ensure that such acts of rowdiness are not passed off lightly, urged Bappun A Sangma, a resident of Tura.
