Stress on repair of roads by Aug 15

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, July 24 - A meeting was held today at the Deputy Commissioners office here to look into the issue of repair of roads, which had been dug up on account of work related to the JICA-assisted water supply schemes in the city.

The meeting was held under chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup Metro F Ahmed.

This follows the directive of Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu issued earlier this week to contractors of road projects to repair and re-fill the roads dug up for such purposes within 30 days of undertaking the digging.

The DC had warned that failure to abide by the directive would result in legal action. At todays meeting, Ahmed stressed repair of the roads by August 15.

In addition, the contractors were informed that before undertakeing any new work involving digging up of roads, they would have to take permission of senior officials of the PWD (Roads) and of the Traffic Police so that precautionary measures and alternative arrangements can be made for safety of commuters and for vehicle flow.
