Stress on conservation, efficient use of energy

GUWAHATI, Dec 14 - With a view to promoting efficient use of energy and its conservation, National Energy Conservation Day was celebrated by the Maligaon-headquartered Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) today.

A seminar was organised on the occasion at Maligaon today, where NFR General Manager Mohd Jamshed, Additional General Manager Dayanand Jha, Chief Electrical Engineer Ratan Lal and other senior officials were present.

Jamshed also distributed LED lamps to railway staff during the occasion. The speakers emphasised the need for energy conservation in society.

National Energy Conservation Day in India is celebrated to make people aware about the importance of energy as well as saving or conserving more energy by using less energy or by avoiding the unnecessary use of energy.

In addition to the celebration of National Energy Conservation Day today, the Energy Conservation Week is also being celebrated from today and it will continue till December 20.

During the week, various activities that promote conservation of energy and facilitate its efficient use in various aspects of day-to-day life, like display of banners and posters, organising workshops in the field of energy conservation measures, drawing and quiz competitions, nukkad natak show, walkathon etc., are planned to create awareness among common people about the urgent need for energy conservation.
