Streetplay generates awareness on malaria control

UDALGURI, Jan 7 - Inmates residing in Dhansiri Tea Estate along with the neighbouring villages like Lalpani and Dalanibasti along the Arunachal Pradesh border under Mazbat health sector in Udalguri district have reportedly been infected with the deadly malarial virus and resultant fever in recent times and thus the health workers of the sector have taken up a series of mass awareness programmes like staging of street plays and audio publicity in remote rural areas.

In order to make the villagers and tea garden labourers aware of their responsibilities in order to get rid of this deadly infectious disease, a street play was staged on Saturday on malaria control and prevention at Dhansiri Tea Estate under Dalanibasti Health Sub-Centre of Mazbat health sector.

The streetplay was scripted and directed by Karishma Sharma, State IECBCC consultant.

Alongside, an audio publicity with microphone was also done to generate mass awareness about malaria and how by following a few simple measures the villagers can control as well as save themselves from being infected by malaria.

During the programme which was attended by a sizeable section of curious villagers and tea garden labourers, Pankaj Sabhapandit, BPM of Mazbat, DPO Rahim Ahmed, DME Madhusmita Baishya, SMI Ananda Hajong, among others, were present and appealed to the villagers to use medicated mosquito nets, boiled water and nutritious food to avoid malaria.
