GUWAHATI, Nov 23 � Altogether 400 lanes, byelanes and major VIP roads of Guwahati would be covered by streetlights under a special plan of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) by next year.
A Rs 2-crore project has been sanctioned and tenders will be invited soon.
The existing ones too will be repaired and renovated before December 31 this year, GMC Commissioner S Viswanathan said briefing mediapersons this afternoon. He also informed that plans are also there to set up two biogas plants, which would be used to light the streetlights of Guwahati, he said.
He further informed that by December 15 the Paltan Bazar fish market will be shifted to Betkuchi area.
