Mangaldai, April 3: Two one-horned rhinos reportedly strayed from Orang National Park and entered into nearby residential char villages in Dalgaon area of Darrang district on Saturday morning.

The straying rhinos have been moving around in few villages including Konakata Para and Gadhaijhar. Hue and cry raised by the crowd gathered in the area to get a glimpse of the wild animals also made the rhinos panicky which may result in unprovoked attacks.

One Sangsher Ali, a resident of Gadhaijhar village, is reported to have been injured in an attack by the stray rhinos. However, it is yet to be confirmed from official sources.

Meanwhile, Forest Staff and local police have arrived at the spot and efforts are on to drive the straying rhinos back to the forest without any harm being done to them.
