Stranded Mizoram citizens to get aid

AIZAWL, April 21 - The Utilisation Committee on the Mizoram Chief Minister�s Relief Fund today decided to dole out cash assistance to Mizoram citizens stranded in different Indian States and abroad, facing financial difficulties. How much amount will be given to each stranded person, has not been disclosed yet.

Meanwhile, till 3 pm today, an amount of Rs 6.1 crore was donated to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund. The donors included government employees, associations, business houses and individuals.

On April 9, the Utilisation Committee had disbursed Rs 2,34,50,000 to local and village task forces, orphanages and rehabilitation centres and occupants of the BSUP housing complexes.

According to the latest records, 2,576 Mizoram citizens are stranded outside the State, including 185 in foreign countries. The majority of the stranded citizens are students and company employees.
