STPI to set up incubation centre in Itanagar

ITANAGAR, Dec 29 - Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an organisation under Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT) is going to set up a new incubation facility here to cater to the need of IT industries and for boosting entrepreneurship and IT exports from Arunachal.

In this connection, an MoU was signed between STPI represented by Sr Director Devesh Tyagi and Dept of Information Technology, Arunachal Pradesh represented by Director, IT Neelam Yapin Tana in the presence of STPI Director General Dr Omkar Rai, Addl Director Amit Bansal in New Delhi.

For establishment of the STPI Centre at Itanagar, the Arunachal Government is providing 12,000 sq ft built-up space and five acres of land free of cost to STPI, according to an official communique here today. This facility would act as a resource centre for IT/ITeS exporting units by offering infrastructural facilities like ready to use state of the art incubation facilities, high speed data communication (HSDC) with uninterrupted data connectivity and other amenities as required for development and export of software & services. The new facility would be operational within six months.

Rescue: The Indian army came to the rescue of a Arunachal Pradesh police Tata Sumo vehicle, which had skidded off the road into a 120 feet deep gorge, according to an official press release.

The incident had taken place at a bend about 60 km from Bame after the driver lost control of the vehicle while trying to save a tourist vehicle coming from the opposite side. The driver of the Tata Sumo narrowly escaped without any serious injuries.

When informed about the incident, the Army Garrison at Aalo swung into action and dispatched two recovery vehicles. The Sumo was recovered after the rescue team toiled for two days.
