Storm hits eastern part of Darrang

MANGALDAI, April 21 - A heavy storm lashed Darrang district on Wednesday night that caused extensive damages in different parts of the district, particularly in villages in its eastern most part.

The villages worst affected have been identified as no.2 Kopati Grant, Thalthali, Bhawapur, Rahmanpur, Rajagrah-Pathar, Jhakua, Shaikhabari, Dalgaon-Suti and Rajagarh-Suti, among others. Around 2,000 families of these villages under Dalgaon Revenue Circle have been affected by this devastating storm as informed by the Project Manager of District Disaster Management Authority.

The storm blew away roofs of many houses and also damaged walls, ceilings and different valuable household properties. Several school buildings and temples have also been damaged as informed by the local people. Many matured trees were uprooted and high voltage power supply lines and concrete posts carrying these high voltage power lines were also damaged.
