ITANAGAR, March 26 - Arunachal Pradesh State Surveillance Officer, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (SSO-IDSP), Dr Lobsang Jampa has appealed to the society to stop ostracizing those on home quarantine.
He reiterated that being on quarantine only means that necessary precautions are being taken and that does not certainly mean they are novel coronavirus patients.
This clarification from the State Surveillance Officer has come after news from various districts were received about the stigmatisation of such home-quarantined people.
He stated that so far, nine samples have been collected from the State, out of which six have tested negative, while the results of the remaining three are awaited.
Arunachal Pradesh has currently 2,273 beds for COVID-19 patients in 66 quarantine facilities across the State, Dr Jampa stated.
Meanwhile, Food and Civil Supplies Secretary Jokey Angu stated that the State has enough rations stocks for the next four months and as such, there is no cause for panic.
The PDS supply for the month of April is already being lifted for all the districts and the Government of India has already given the supply for May-July on credit.
Home Minister Bamang Felix, who convened a meeting regarding streamlining the door-to-door delivery services during the 21-day lockdown, said that the Government is doing its best to make the lockdown period easy and smooth for the public.
�While all commodities might not be available at this time, the Government is ensuring that at least the essential commodities reach everyone,� he said.
Itanagar Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom stated that one or two grocery shops have been made operational in every locality where people can go and buy essential commodities. He said that if any complaint of vendors charging exorbitant prices or any other issue like not delivering rations in time is received, action will be initiated under the Disaster Management Act and other relevant Acts.
