JORABAT, March 19 - A six-wheeler truck (AS 18 4667) that was stolen from Basistha Balughat area was recovered by the Jorabat Traffic Police last night.
The in-charge of the Jorabat Traffic Police Outpost said the truck was stolen by Sanjib Barman around 8 last night when its owner-cum-driver parked it on the roadside and went for dinner. Barman fled towards Jorabat but suddenly stopped the truck near 9th Mile as it developed a technical problem. This also caused a traffic jam for about an hour.
As police personnel approached the truck, Barman got jittery and offered them Rs 50,000 as bribe to let him go. Smelling foul play, the police towed away the vehicle to the police station. Later, an FIR was lodged against Barman and the truck handed over to the owner after confirmation.
