Stir over minimum daily wage demand

GUWAHATI, April 3 � The fasting programme of the members of the Chah Shramik Mukti Sangram Samiti, Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti and the nascent Gana Mukti Sangram, Assam entered its second day today in front of the office of the Labour Commissioner here in support of their demand for fixing Rs 169 as the minimum daily wage for each of the tea garden workers of the State. In a memorandum to the Chief Secretary of the State, they have also demanded abrogation of the agreement signed by the tea planters and the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha recently on the issue.
