By Staff Correspondent

JORHAT, Nov 7 - Water supply to the residents of the town under the Assam Urban Water Supply And Sewerage Board (Under Urban Development Department of the State Government) was suspended on Monday (November 4) following a 12-hour stir from 5 am by the employees in support of various demands.

Employees also staged a protest in front of the office here. They said paying their salaries on time was one of their main demands.

Since about last two years, the Board has been paying salaries to its employees with a gap of four to five months causing lot of difficulties for the employees, they said.

The employees threatened to undertake more agitational programmes in the future if the government do not pay heed to their plight.

The protesters said that the top authorities of the Board in recent times have been urged to look into their matter, but the same had fallen on deaf ears, they alleged.
