BARPETA, July 26 - The participation of people from all walks of life in the agitation for a civil subdivision in the eastern part of Barpeta with Sarthebari as its head quarters is on in full swing. Intellectuals from both inside and outside the locality, have expressed their support to the cause.
The diesel auto owners of the area took out a huge procession in Sarukshetri and Paka mouzas demanding immediate formation of the new subdivision. Members of the Diesel Auto Owners� Association took out their vehicles to the Natun Bazar of Sarthebari.
The Subdivision Demand Committee has already met the Chief Minister of the State,Tarun Gogoi and the chairman of the Cabinet Sub committee for the formation of subdivisions, Revenue Minister Dr Bhumidhar Barman. A meeting held on the Jagannath Temple campus at Sarthebari reviewed the progress of the movement so far and decided to carry it forward further until the goal is achieved.
Several intellectuals of the State have also come out in support of the cause. They include Ismail Hussain, Akshyay Kumar Mishra, Adip Phukan, Pankaj Nath and Amiya Mahanta.
