SIVASAGAR, March 20 The 4th biennial conference of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) has concluded here at Diroi Rangoli near Moran today where at least 50,000 people heard the speech of veteran Gandhian leader Anna Hazare.

Attending the open session as the chief guest, the noted Gandhian leader said, All Indians must be united to rebuild our country.

After meeting Akhil Gogoi at this age of 77, I am feeling like a 30-year-old youth. Akhil Gogoi himself will not contest elections. By becoming an MP, an MLA or a minister through elections, Akhil will have to shoulder huge responsibilities. The Jana Sansad is stronger than the Delhi Sansad and the Gram Sabha is higher than the Vidhan Sabha or Lok Sabha, he said.

Regarding the Land Acquisition Bill, Anna said, There is immense satisfaction in being jailed for the interest of the society. And for the interest of the peasant and labours of our country, we will start a massive Jail Bharo Movement against the Land Acquisition Bill.

Criticising the BJP and Congress, Anna said, There is no difference between Congress and BJP. The Achche Din promised by the BJP is yet to become a reality. The BJP has, however, brought Achche Din for the capitalists.

Echoing similar sentiments, leader of Bharat Bikash Parishad of Maharashtra Vinayak Patil said, We are launching a second Independent Movement under the leadership of great Gandhian Anna Hazare.

The open session began with O Mur Apunar Desh.

In his speech, noted journalist Haider Hussain said, People of Assam do not need a third or fourth alternative. We need an alternative political force which the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti can form.

The open session, anchored by peasant leader Akhil Gogoi, concluded with a grand cultural show presented by the Gujarat Kishan Manch.

A souvenir, titled Mukti, was also released on the occasion by Chandan Sharma, professor in Dibrugarh University.

Meanwhile, the KMSS reconstituted the executive body with Raju Bora as president and Bhaswati Saikia and Anil Bodo as joint secretaries.
