Steps to curb price rise in Nalbari district under way

NALBARI, June 21 - The Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari district Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury has taken steps to contain price rise of essential commodities in the district.

In order to discuss the issue of price rise, a meeting was held recently with representatives of the Chambers of Commerce of Nalbari and Tihu along with officials of the Civil Supplies Department at the Deputy Commissioner�s conference hall.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the businessmen not to increase prices frequently. He also directed the businessmen to keep the district administration posted every day about the latest position in regard to the price list.

He ordered the traders not to create artificial scarcity of commodities with an intention to increase prices. Otherwise, he will be compelled to take necessary steps under the provision of the law, the DC warned.

Further, the Deputy Commissioner asked the traders not to sell any untested commodity of new brand without a proper check being carried out by the Food Safety officer.

In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner requested the businessmen to keep stock of essential commodities like rice, dal, salt, mustard oil and flattened rice for distribution during the flood season.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Gunajit Roy Choudhury, who is incharge of Food and Civil Supplies, Sachin Patgiri, Superintendent of Civil Supplies also attended the meeting.
