Steps to check milk price hike demanded

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 5 The Consumers Legal Protection Forum submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) demanding immediate steps to check the arbitrary hike in the milk prices.

It needs to be mentioned here that milk consumers have been paying high prices without any guarantee on the quality of the milk they have been consuming. Further adding to the woes of the milk consumers, milk has always been in short supply in the capital city.

The forum said that it has been repeatedly urging the authorities concerned to initiate necessary action to address the woes of the milk consumers, but so far nothing concrete has emerged to provide succour to the milk consumers.

Two rounds of meeting were held earlier with the then Deputy Commissioner to deal with the following issues related to milk, said the forum regretting that no result came of the talks.

The forum has insisted on the district administration to check the abnormal hike in milk price, besides fixing a uniform price for milk in entire Guwahati city.

It has also urged the district administration to ensure that the quality of milk is retained and take the requisite action to prevent adulteration of milk.
