Steps taken to eliminate malaria from Dima Hasao

HAFLONG, June 5 - To discuss the observance of anti-malaria month in the district, an inter-sectoral meeting of various line departments of Haflong was held at the office chamber of Joint Director, Health Services, Haflong, Dima Hasao on Monday.

TT Daulagupu, Secretary, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council presided over the meeting. The programme was organised by the National Vector Borne Disease Control Department.

The main objective of the meeting was to discuss the plans and programmes of eliminating malaria from the district with the close cooperation of various government departments of Dima Hasao and the general public by observing the �Anti-Malaria Month� from June 1-30.

In this regard, Dr Leena Hakmaosa, SMO, felt the necessity to create mass awareness by launching various programmes like community involvement, rally, quiz competition, essay competition, drawing competition among students. She also suggested to make use of mosquito nets so that people can stay away from mosquitoes. In this regard, she requested all the related departments to extend their possible help in making the programme of �Anti-Malaria Month� a success so that the district remains a malaria-free zone.

TT Daulagupu, Secretary, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, in his short speech, thanked the Health and Medical Department, Haflong for the achievement made during last year. He also asked the departments to work hard towards achieving more in the future. He suggested all the line departments to work with close co-operation in making the �Anti-Malaria Month� a success to eliminate malaria from the district.

The programme was also attended by Dr Dipali Barman, Joint Director, Medical & Health Services, Haflong, Dr Kalpana Kemprai, Superintendent of Haflong Civil Hospital, Dr L Vaiphei, AMO officer and staff of Haflong Town Committee and other departments.
