Steps taken to clear encroachment for NH

KARIMGANJ, Nov 29 � Karimganj DC Sanjib Borgohain is keen on having the town Nilambazar clean and has also stressed to expedite the construction work of NH-8, i.e., the Karimganj-Agartala Road. The DC instructed the circle officer of Nilambazar, Sanjeet Baglery to take strong steps again encroachers on government land who have created hurdles in the construction of the NH-8.

Circle officer Sanjeet Baglery disclosed that a few traders have illegally encroached on government land required for the construction of the NH-8. The PWD had issued a notice to such encroachers to hand over the land. Now the district administration has decided to launch an eviction drive against the encroachers and will clear the decks for the construction of the NH-8. The circle officer said he would try his level best to make Nilambazar a green town.

Poor health services: Health services at the maternity ward of the Karimganj Civil Hospital are not upto the mark. This allegation has been raised by various organisations. It is gathered that Dr Shibnath Paul, in-charge of the maternity ward has been unable to render proper service to pregnant women. According to allegations, patients are unable to get free medicines from the civil hospital though the Health department is supplying necessary medicines every month.

In order to take stock of the civil hospital, a team from the Central Health Department inspected the hospital on November 11. Regional Director of the Central Health Department, Partha Gogoi led the team.

Patients and other public informed on Partha Gogoi that under Mamoni and Majoni schemes, no free medicines are being provided to patients. Gogoi assured the patients and the public that a high-level enquiry would be conducted into the matter and the government would take drastic action against the doctors found guilty.
