Statue of Dr Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi unveiled

TEZPUR, June 23 � The statue of former president of the apex literary body Asam Sahitya Sabha, late Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi erected near the central office of the Asom Lekhika Somaroh was unveiled on Sunday at a function organised on the birth anniversary of the litterateur. The statue, which was constructed and designed by prominent artist Jaichandra Das, was formally unveiled by founder president of Asom Lekhika Somaroh, Padmasree awardee Dr. Sheila Borthakur.

After unveiling the statue, remembering Dr. Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi�s contribution towards the society, Dr. Sheila Borthakur urged the people to follow the ideology of Dr Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi.

The brief programme started with a welcome address by the general secretary of Asom Lekhika Somaroh Dr Saru Saharia Nath. It was held under the aegis of president of the organization Binita Dutta and attended by eldest daughter of Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi, retired scientist, Water Resource Department, Government of India, Dr Sapna, Devi, Annada Saikia, Arati Saikia, Dr. Puspa Gogoi along with many eminent personalities.

On the otherhand, speaking on the occasion, senior lecturer of Bongaigaon College Dr. Santonamoyee Mozumdar said that Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi sent a message of humanism and sanctity through her songs. �Philosophy of life is reflected through the creations of Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi,� she said.
