States should decide whether to implement CAB or not

By Newmai News

SHILLONG, April 17 - With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) having stated in its manifesto that it will move for the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) if it returns to power, BJP Minister in the Meghalaya Government, AL Hek has opined that States should be given the right to decide whether or not to implement CAB.

If the BJP is hell-bent to implement the CAB in the country, we will tell the national leaders that we have no issue but it has to be a State subject and handled by the State the way they want, said Hek.

Hek made this statement here on Wednesday while referring to the BJP manifesto. He said, Maybe they may pass it but they should leave it to the discretion of the State Government to implement whichever way they like.
