State�s first digital literacy centre inaugurated

RANGIYA, April 25 - The State Level Bankers committee (SLBC) has adopted the Chapania village of Rangiya to promote digital literacy among the masses. India�s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has set up a digital literacy centre at the village in order to create awareness among the people about various services provided by the bank.

While inaugurating the centre, Chief General Manager of SBI, North East Circle, PSLVN Murthy claimed that the new centre would immensely help the rural masses in availing various banking services .

The CGM further added that the SBI has come up with this initiative to educate the youths who can also access various digital modes of online application process, get knowledge of recruitment examinations including those in banks and other government or Central government jobs.

�The project will be beneficial to our rural masses provided they get maximum use of the centre, which is equipped with Wi-Fi facility and solar panel to facilitate uninterrupted work even in the absence of power in the area. The SBI will set up more such useful centres in other parts of the north-eastern states and extension will be done soon,� the CGM stated. He also appealed to the people to avail facilities from the centre.

State Bank of India has embarked on transforming the villages into cash less eco-system, by adopting them as SBI digital villages. The project aims at transforming the selected villages into safe, healthy and vibrant digital centres.

Earlier, in the day, an awareness campaign was held about various Central government schemes linked through banks like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) etc. General Manager of SBI, Om Prakash Mishra, General Manager Yogesh Ch Sahoo apprised the villagers about the benefits of those bold initiatives of the Prime Minister�s for ushering in a cashless economy in the country, and subsequent schemes for the people of India.
