State�s COVID-19 recovery rate improves

GUWAHATI, June 23: Even as the COVID-19 scare continued with 203 new cases detected on Tuesday, till 11.40 pm, a total of 197 cured patients were discharged during the day in Assam.

With this, the State�s recovery rate improved to 64.3 per cent. The total cases rose to 6,056, while the number of discharged patients now stands at 3,762.

Meanwhile, a patient at Pratiksha Hospital in the city tested positive for COVID-19. �A pregnant lady was brought to the hospital on Saturday. Normally, COVID-19 test is conducted before the surgery. This case was an emergency, and so the surgery had to be conducted,� hospital sources said.

�The COVID-19 test result was positive for the lady. Three doctors and over 20 staff have been quarantined,� sources added.

The woman�s husband is a stenographer at the CBI office at Gorchuk. The CBI office has been closed for three days and samples of all primary contacts taken for tests.

An ASI of Bharalumukh police station has also tested positive for COVID-19, making him the tenth city police personnel to be infected by the virus. A total of 25 city police personnel are now under quarantine.
