Statehood demand finds place in BPPF manifesto

KOKRAJHAR, March 31 � The election agenda of BPPF released on Monday at its party head office at Kokrajhar strongly emphasised to intensify the statehood demand, besides other vital issues.

Releasing the 12-point action manifesto by BPPF president Rabiram Narzary, the party was also interested in solution of the NDFB problem, apart from releasing the goals of ABSU and BSS in the education, social and economic fronts, promotion of educational uplift and policies encompassing a separate directorate for Bodo medium instruction, central university, medical college, agriculture college, forest training and management institute in BTC.

At the same time the manifesto included steps to address employment generation and economic progress, industrial development considering eco-tourism and creation of special economic zone for BTC, apart from a green revolution in the agri sector, besides tackling the issue of flood and soil erosion among others.

The BPPF also pledged to undertake immediate measures for relief and rehabilitation of Muslims, Adivasis and Bodo relief camp inmates, withdrawal of pending cases of surrendered militants and activists of Bodo land movement with rehabilitation measures, providing ST status to the Bodos and Karbi-Anglong and other autonomous councils of Assam as per Bodo Accord of 2003, equal rights to Koch-Rajbongshis, Gorkha, Adivasis and minorities.

Further, it promised to prevent corruption in BTC area apart from issual of BPL cards and job cards to the needy, apart from other problems, including women�s welfare in the area. In this regard the BPPF resolved to fight election jointly with the Oppositions against the Cong-BPF combine.
