GUWAHATI, Oct 17 � Defending national champions Assam became east zone champions in the U-19 women cricket championship. In the final league match at Jharkhand today, Assam girls defeated Tripura by 48 runs. Earlier Assam won against Orissa, Bengal and host Jharkhand.

Today, in Assam�s 188 for eight in 50 overs, Tripura were all out for 140 in 47 overs. By virtue of their East Zone title, Assam has qualified for the national level championship to be played at Hyderabad from October 22.
