State TT tournament shifted to Jorhat

GUWAHATI, Dec 5 - The venue for the 68th Donic All Assam State Table Tennis Championship has been shifted to Jorhat. Earlier the championship was scheduled to be held at Golaghat and now it will be held at the Kushal Konwar Indoor Stadium, Jorhat from December 11 to 13, stated a released issued by Assam Table Tennis Association secretary Tridib Duvarah.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic prevailing in the country only singles events of various categories will be conducted in the tournament and team events will be opted out.

Players from all the affiliated districts including Guwahati, Nagaon, Tezpur, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Nazira, Namrup, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Silchar and Duliajan along with some major Institutions like Oil India Limited, NF Railway are expected to take part in the tournament.

The ATTA has nominated Govinda Upadhay of Guwahati as chief referee and Biman Bhagawati of Sivasagar as deputy chief referee. Nayan Jyoti Sarma, treasurer, ATTA of Jorhat will be the official observer.
