GUWAHATI, Nov 23 - The Golaghat District Sports Association under the aegis of the Assam Table Tennis Association (ATTA) will organise the 68th edition of the Donic All Assam State Table Tennis Championship at the Probin Gogoi Indoor Stadium in Golaghat from December 11 to 13.
The tournament will be organised following strict COVID-19 protocols under the guidelines of Table Tennis Federation of India and SOPs provided by the government. Due to pandemic situation prevailing in the country, only singles events of various categories will be conducted in the tournament.
Paddlers from all the affiliated districts of the State like Guwahati, Nagaon, Tezpur, Golaghat, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Nazira, Namrup, Dibrugarh, North Lakhimpur, Silchar and Duliajan and some major institutions like Oil India Limited, NF Railway are expected to take part in this tournament.
Altogether 10 individual events in cadet, sub-juniors, juniors, youth and senior category will be held for both men and women. Award for most promising player in both the categories (Boys and Girls) will be given based on the performance in the championships.
For smooth conduct of the championships, ATTA has nominated Govinda Upadhay as chief referee and Biman Bhagawati as deputy chief referee while Nayan Jyoti Sarma, treasurer, ATTA of Jorhat will be the official observer for the championships, stated a press release.
