By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, May 31 - The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to provide a super express telecom (internet) highway with state-of-the-art optical fibre for parallel connectivity of Guwahati with several other places to facilitate high speed internet network.

The plan is also to provide 200 Gbps connectivity during the current financial year, said MK Seth, Chief General Manager, BSNL, Assam Circle (Guwahati) in a press meet here today.

Assam, according to Seth, will be the first State that will have such high speed connectivity. This will also ensure seamless connectivity even in case of damage in routes, he said. However, the immediate plan is to ensure incremental growth in bandwidth, especially to public utility services like the State Bank of India and other government and non-government organisations.

Seth also said that a detailed coverage plan is in the process for the militancy-affected areas like Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao to improve surveillance. OFC laying process has already started which will be highly useful from security point of view, he said. Seth also pointed out that all the 257 branches of the State Bank of India have been upgraded with high bandwidth and state-of-the-art new technology and people can now avail faster ATM and other banking services in urban and rural areas.

He further informed that the BSNL as part of its corporate social responsibility will honour top 10 performers of HSLC examinations, 2016, the results of which were announced today.

Seth also added that the BSNL will also support 10 students of Guwahati Blind HS School who came out successful in the HSLC examination.
