State requires 11,000 MT paper for textbooks

MORIGAON, Sept 9 � More than 11,000 metric tonnes (MT) of paper are required for free textbooks of secondary school students in the State, but the State Education Department always faces crisis of paper in this regard, informed Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Jagiroad on Saturday.

The Education Minister after discussing the problems with the Hindustan Paper Corporation (HPC) top-officials addressed the pressmen and said that HPC, Jagiroad can supply only 300 metric tonnes of paper per month. But to meet the requirement, the State Government must get 11,000 metric tonnes of paper before September 30.

He asked the HPC authority to supply the paper in time so that the State Government may distribute free textbooks on the first day of the new academic year.
