State-level tulsi plantation contest tomorrow

DERGAON, Oct 16 - Frontline local nature organisation AASHRAY is organising the sixth edition of State-level tulsi plantation contest on the occasion of Kati Bihu on October 18.

The preliminary stage of the competition will be held at the residence of the participant itself where they will have to plant the tulsi plant on Kati Bihu evening by observing all formalities.

Participants across the State will have to upload video footage or photographs covering all aspects of tulsi plantation by the contestant from 5 pm to 8 pm on October 18.

After examining the videos or photographs by members of the jury, the shortlisted participants will be interviewed through mobile or video calling for final selection on October 20.

The first three participants will be awarded the Aryabhatta, Patanjali and Sushruta awards which were instituted by the then Governor of Assam PB Acharyya in 2015 and accredited AASHRAY as the nodal agency to organise the event.

The awards carry cash prizes of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively along with a citation.

Interested participants or representatives of AASHRAY appointed for the purpose across the State will have to send the videos or photographs to the organisers from 5 pm to 8 pm on October 18, as informed by the secretary of AASHRAY Sanjoy Kumar Hazarika. Interested contestants have been advised to contact the organisers for any further details.
