State-level children�s science congress ends

GUWAHATI, Oct 21 � The four-day 22nd State Level National Children�s Science Congress-2014, Assam, concluded at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra and Shilpgram, on Sunday.

Two wall magazines prepared by the participants at the camp were released on the concluding day, a press release said.

A get-together was held at the Rong Ghar bakori before the start of the valedictory session, which was conducted by Meghna Choudhury and Mrityunjoy Sarmah � both former child scientists. The valedictory session was coordinated by Romen Gogoi, State Coordinator of NCSC 2014.

Dr Dhrubajyoti Saikia, VC, Cotton College State University, Utpal Sarma, Director of ASTEC, Dr Archana Goswami, working president, reception committee, Dr B Tripathi, scientist of NCSTC, DST, Govt of India, HC Dutta, former Director of ASTEC, Dr AK Misra, Chairman, and Dr Utpal Rajguru, academic coordinator and Sailen Kalita, secretary of reception committee, attended the valedictory session.

A total of 257 child scientists attended the State event, with the break-up being 129 boys and 128 girls.

The National Children�s Science Congress (NCSC) is a massive science communication programme of the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), DST, GOI, organised nationally by NCSTC-Network, New Delhi. ASTEC is the State coordinating agency for NCSC 2014, Assam.

The Kamrup (Metro) district organizing committee, NCSC 2014, is the host agency of the 22nd State Level NCSC 2014.
