State Labour Minister inspects tea gardens, distributes masks

DIBRUGARH, April 21 - Labour and Tea Tribes� Welfare Minister Sanjay Kishan today visited five tea gardens in the district to personally examine the preventive steps taken by the garden managements against the spread of the coronavirus among workers.

He first visited Sepon and Moran tea estates under Moran Revenue Circle.

He took stock of the health protocols being implemented in the garden to protect the workers from COVID-19. Local MLA Chakradhar Gogoi accompanied the minister during his visit to the two gardens. He also distributed masks provided by the State government among the workers and later interacted with them.

He later visited Rajali, Namrup and Mottock tea estates. He distributed masks and interacted with the workers in the presence of Naharkatia MLA Naren Sonowal and Duliajan MLA Teres Goala.

In Namrup, he interacted with the pluckers while they were at work. He tried to find out the level of understanding among the workers about COVID-19.

Masks were also distributed among the workers in Ethelwood, Durgapur and Jamira tea estates by Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan and in Baughpara, Ghooronia and Mancotta tea estates by Lahoal MLA Rituparna Baruah.

Similarly, Tingkhong MLA Bimal Bora also conducted sanitization drive at several places under Tingkhong LAC and distributed masks among workers in Tingkhong, Nilmoni, Sarojini, Azizibagh, Karangani and Joonktolie estates.
