State Govt to submit white paper in House

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, July 3 In a bid to give a fitting reply to the allegations of the opposition parties over failure of the State Government on all fronts, the Tarun Gogoi Government will submit a white paper on its performance on August 14 in the next Assembly session for a thorough discussion.

The white paper would have the performance report of the Government in maintaining law and order, besides developments in welfare, education, agriculture and health sectors and others.

Our effort to address foreigners issue and the problem of unemployment would also be highlighted in the white paper, informed Gogoi while talking to mediapersons here today.

Taking a potshot at the opposition parties especially the Asom Gana Parishad and the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Chief Minister said that the white paper will expose the inefficiency of the opposition parties when they were in power.

We will prove that they were corrupt and inefficient and if they have the guts let them also submit a white paper carrying their performance report when they were in power, he said.

Referring to AGP and the BJP, Gogoi said that the opposition parties are now raising the issue of NC Hills irregularities to hide their inefficiency, but little do they know that I had recommended a thorough probe into the gross financial irregularities way back in 2008, two years before they raised the issue, he said.

They woke up in 2010 and are now even trying to get me involved in the scam. If they can prove my involvement, I will not only leave the Chief Ministers post but will also resign as a MLA, Gogoi said, reiterating that his Government will never give ticket to anyone against whom prima facie evidence indicating involvement in a serious offence is found.

He questioned the integrity of the opposition parties asking why the AGP was giving ticket to such tainted persons.

On the LoC scam, the Chief Minister went a step further and slammed the then Governor Lt Gen (Retired) SK Sinha for refusing to grant prosecution sanction against Prafulla Kumar Mahanta.

Even as APCC president I then felt that there was a political interference in the case but now after reading the book (Guarding Indias Integrity) written by the then Governor, I am convinced about it, he said.

Gogoi said that though the Government had taken a decision to move the CBI to reopen the LoC case, it was yet to move the CBI formally.
