State govt may raise stake in NRL: Himanta

BOKAKHAT, Oct 30 - State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the Assam Government may raise its share in the Numaligarh Refinery Limited form the present 12.35 per cent.

Sarma met the employees of the Numaligarh Refinery and assured them not to get disheartened with the matter of privatisation of the NRL. He assured that he would meet Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and discuss the matter with him.

He said the State�s share in the refinery would be raised from the present 12.35 per cent. It may be mentioned here that the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) of which the NRL is a subsidiary holds 61.65 per cent shares while the Oil India Limited (OIL) has 26 per cent and the rest 12.35 per cent shares are held by the Assam government.
