DHEMAJI, Oct 31 - The BJP Assam State committee�s state executive meeting of the OBC Morcha concluded here with a two-day programme on Friday.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with ministers, MLAs and BJP leaders attended the concluding occasion of the meeting.
Attending the inaugural day�s programme, Sonowal said his government was giving priority towards development of ethnic people belonging to the backward classes.
The district unit AASU took out a motorcycle rally along Dhemaji town road protesting Sonowal�s arrival. Several AASU members alleged that the Sonowal government is supporting CAA implementation, thereby working against the interest of the indigenous people.
On the other day, members of AASU and AJYCP blocked Himanta Biswa Sarma�s convoy at Gogamukh, when he was proceeding from Gerukamukh to Dhemaji to attend the OBC Morcha meeting.
The protesters were aggrieved that the BJP leaders are frequently visiting NHPC�s mega dam site Gerukamukh thereby encouraging the construction agency to continue with the controversial project ignoring massive protests by the people living in the downstream areas.
Haflong Correspondent adds: The district executive committee meeting of the BJP Scheduled Tribe Morcha was held at Dishru Cultural Club, Maibang on Friday.
The day�s programme began with the hoisting of the BJP flag by Suraj Naiding, president of the ST Morcha followed by felicitation of guests and invitees.
The meeting was attended by Debolal Gorlosa, CEM, NCHAC, Dima Hasao, Samuel Changsan, EM, NCHAC Co-convenor Finance, BJP Assam Pradesh ST Morcha, Golonjo Thaosen, Nipolal Hojai, EM, NCHAC Donpainon Thaosen, President, BJP, Dima Hasao, Tilutoma Hasnu, State Secretary, ST Morcha, Assam Pradesh, Kulendra Daulagupu, Advisor to CEM, NCHAC, State Executive Member, NCHAC Permanent invitee ST Morcha, Assam Pradesh Bijit Langthasa MAC, Maibang West Constituency.
Addressing the meeting, Gorlosa explained how the BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi at the Centre and Sarbananda Sonowal in the State have been trying their best for the betterment of the ST people along with others in the country. The development in true sense has started throughout the country only because of the BJP. Annoyed with propaganda of Congress though a few media Gorlosa said people should not be misguided by such false and fabricated reports in a section of media.
Samuel Changsan in his speech appealed to all the BJP workers and well-wishers to be more active to reach out to the public with the message of development and to apprise the people about the pro-people attitude of the BJP.
