GUWAHATI, Nov 11 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today directed Minister Cultural Affairs Pranati Phukan and senior officials of the department to start the process of construction of the mausoleum of Dr Bhupen Hazarika at Jalukbari, the Sukapha Samannay Kshetra at Jorhat, the opening of North East Tribal Museum at Sonapur and establishment of the Jyoti Bishnu Cultural Centre immediately. He was reviewing the status of different ongoing projects of the department in his office chamber here.
According to an official press release here, the meeting decided to organise a tribal festival to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the different ethnic communities in a big way.
Gogoi also asked the department to start work for identification of the structures which are 100 years old or more, irrespective of their belonging to the public or private sector, religious or educational institutions, for the purpose of their preservation as heritage buildings.
