State gets $200 mn ADB assistance

GUWAHATI, June 4 � A high-level team of Asian Development Bank (ADB) led by mission leader Sengay Penjor met Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at his official residence last evening and extended a loan assistance of US $ 200 million to the State for a number of schemes and projects.

The loan assistance for Guwahati will be for introduction of a bus rapid transit system from Paltan Bazaar to Khanapara together with two other projects vis-�-vis drinking

water supply for East Guwahati and sewerage. ADB�s assistance will also include a solid waste management and drainage system for Dibrugarh town, an official release said.

The Chief Minister, while thanking the ADB team for coming forward to help the State with loan assistance, said that it would help pitchfork the State into all-round progress and prosperity.
