NAGAON, Jan 3 � The Nagaon women team bagged 6 gold medal in wrestling on the inaugural day of the State Games here today. Earlier in the day Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi inaugurated the meet at the Nurul Amin Stadium here in a colourful and well attended opening ceremony.
Noted sportspersons Dipankar Bhattacharyya, Fariha Zaman, Taibun Nisha, Gyandip Kalita, Renu Bala Chanu, Promila Bharali, Surujuddin Ahmed were felicitated on the occasion. National vollyeball player of Nagaon took the oath on behalf of all the participants.
The medal winners in wrestling: (48 kg) 1st Ranmita Devi (Nagaon), 2nd Jyotshna Bodo (KA), 3rd Dipti Karmakar (Tinsukia); (51kg) 1st Ranjana Devi (Nagaon), 2nd Anu Maran (Tinsukia), 3rd Laimon Basumatary (KA); (55 kg) 1st Luang Khembi (Nagaon), 2nd Sunamai Basumatary (KA), 3rd Rimjhim Kalita (Sonitpur); (59kg) 1st N Thumbi (Nagaon), 2nd Khushbu Bania (Barpeta), 3rd Manju Bara (Sonitpur); (63 kg) 1st S Premapati (Nagaon), 2nd Marchy Hazuary (KA).
