GUWAHATI, July 31 - The flood situation in the State has eased to some extent but the Brahmaputra continues to flow above danger level at Neamatighat (Jorhat), Tezpur (Sonitpur) and Dhubri; Dhansiri at Numaligarh (Golaghat); Jia Bharali at NT Road Crossing (Sonitpur); Kopili at Dharamtul (Nagaon), Puthimari NH road Crossing (Kamrup); Pagladiya, NT road crossing (Nalbari); Beki Road Bridge at (Barpeta); Gaurang (Kokrajhar); and Sankosh at Golokganj (Dhubri).
Meanwhile, a person died in the floods at Gossaigaon (Kokrajhar) today, taking the toll to 109. The total number of flood-affected people has come down to 10,82,504.
According to the daily ASDMA bulletin, the affected districts remain Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Darrang, Baksa, Udalguri, Nalbari, Barpeta, Goalpara, Nagaon, Morigaon, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Majuli, Sivasagar and Jorhat. A total of 1,366 villages in 55 revenue circles continue to be affected. Cropland area affected is 82,947 hectares.
Over 26,000 people are taking shelter in 137 relief camps.
A total of 3,27,442 big animals, 1,51,431 small animals and 2,76,697 poultry have been affected by the deluge.
Meanwhile, two embankments have been damaged at Bongaigaon and another breached at Nalbari.
In Kaziranga National Park, a total of 145 animals have died due to floods and 169 animals have been rescued. Out of 223 camps there, 17 are under water and three camps have been vacated. At Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park, out of 40 camps, six camps have been inundated. At Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary, out of 25 camps, 12 remain inundated while three camps have been vacated.
