By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, Dec 1 - Members of the Communist Party of India (CPI) Headquarters Guwahati and of the city unit today took part in a protest demonstration in front of the CPI office at Rajgarh Road to condemn the attack by RSS and BJP goons at the CPI office at Agartala in Tripura today.

A press release of the party signed by Munin Mahanta, secretary, Assam State Council, Communist Party of India, said that today RSS and BJP goons and unidentified elements entered a party office at Agartala and ransacked furniture and office materials including computers and others. He alleged that the police remained a silent spectator and that no culprits had been apprehended till now.

Mahanta further said that the violence was orchestrated as a part of the master plan of the Tripura government to silence the peoples voice against their failure on all fronts. While the law-and-order situation is deteriorating, there has been no development in the State under the BJP rule but the CPI is being targeted, he said.

Among those present in the demonstration, were Asomi Gogoi, National Council member, CPI, Chakreswar Kalita, secretary, Kamrup Metro Committee and Ramen Das, AITUC State General Secretary. At the call of CPI, the protest was held in all district council offices throughout the State, the release added.
