State Congress blows poll bugle at Mangaldai

MANGALDAI, Feb 15 - The Asom Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), for the first time on Friday, blew its poll bugle at Mangaldai in Darrang district for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.

The APCC in association with its district wing organised a mega workers� rally on the campus of Rajiv Bhawan here, which has been attended by several senior leaders of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the APCC, including AICC general secretary cum former Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat, another AICC general secretary Sanjay Choudhury, APCC president Ripun Bora and opposition leader Debabrata Saikia, former minister Rokybul Hussain and Basanta Das, among others.

The senior AICC leaders who rushed from Delhi also ceremonially welcomed several prominent and young new comers to the party fold.

While addressing the party leaders and workers, Harish Rawat, the AICC in-charge for Assam, appealed to them to get ready to dethrone Narendra Modi from power and bring Rahul Gandhi to power.

He termed Modi �the promoter of multi-billionaires like Ambani and Adani�. �Modi works for the benefits of the multi-billionaires like Ambani, Adani, Tata, Birla, but Rahul Gandhi is committed to the poor farmers. Gandhi demands exemption of debts of these poor farmers,� said Rawat. APCC president Ripun Bora, APCC general secretary Dwijen Sarma and several other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
