State Cong targets 80 seats in 2021 Assembly polls

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, June 15 - Smarting under the heavy reverses suffered in the last Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in the State, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is girding up its loins and has set a target of winning 80 seats in the 2021 Assembly polls in the State.

Mission 80 as the initiative has been named was extensively deliberated upon at the partys executive committee meeting held at Rajiv Bhawan here this evening.

APCC chief Ripun Bora said that the party is keen to win back its lost support and Mission 80 would be implemented with full vigour, with everyone in the party at different levels putting their collective weight behind the agenda.

The mood is upbeat and we are leaving no stone unturned to achieve our goal of winning 80 seats in the 2021 Assembly election, he added.

The State BJP had recently launched its Mission 100 for the Assembly polls, prompting the response of Mission 80 by the Congress.

Bora said that top party functionaries including MLAs would strive to work at the grassroots to connect with the masses for generating the much-needed public support to accomplish Mission 80.

Our leaders including legislators will work hard in their constituencies. We want the party to connect and engage with the masses in an intense manner, he added.

Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the party workers would reach out to the people and expose before them the falsehood of the BJP government in Assam.
