State Cabinet recommends Governor�s rule in BTC till polls

GUWAHATI, Oct 22 - The State Cabinet that met on Thursday recommended proclamation of Governor�s rule in BTC till elections are held and requested the State Election Commission to complete the election process there by December 15.

The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also took several major decisions.

The Cabinet approved exemption of sand, steel, bitumen, etc., to be used in the construction of the proposed Majuli bridge from State GST, royalty and local taxes. It also approved that the Government of Assam would bear the cost of land required for the approach roads of the proposed bridge.

The Cabinet further decided to provide funding to gaushalas to fill up the gap in fund required to feed cows.

The Cabinet also decided to give ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the late Raben Das, constable who died while apprehending cattle smugglers.
