GUWAHATI, Feb 18 - An association of the nonagenarians of the State will be formed at a representative public meeting to be held at Guwahati Press Club on March 11. It is estimated that out of the 25 lakh elderly citizens of the State, as many as 32.25 thousands are in the category of nonagenarians. The octogenarian populace is 2.25 lakh.
The Guwahati city already has a club of octogenarians, which was set up three years ago with the Late Kamaleswar Bora as president. Currently, Mahesh Bhuyan is the president of the club. It also has a centenarian, 104-year-old Dr Keshab Bardoloi and a 95-year-old Amal Hazarika, as its active members.
