GOALPARA, Oct 21 Buoyed by the unprecedented success of the BJP in the recent Lok Sabha as well as Assembly elections in other States, the president of the Assam unit of the saffron party, Siddhartha Bhattacharya is preparing a roadmap with an objective to mobilise active citizens and provide opportunities to party members to contribute positively towards bringing about a significant political change in the State.

Talking to this correspondent on Monday during his overnight stay here, the State BJP president, who was back after a visit to Mankachars disputed Boroibari area along the India-Bangladesh border a tract under the controversial land swap deal with Bangladesh said that more responsible and skilled people are required to infuse more dynamism for the effective functioning of his party. For this, the BJP is planning to launch a new membership drive across the State soon.

While appealing to all citizens to join hands with the party, irrespective of caste and creed, to work for development, peace and progress, Bhattacharya said that he was visiting every part of the State to mobilise the people, necessary to achieve the partys vision in the State. He is trying to consolidate the support of those who rallied behind the party in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

Mentioning the alleged corruption in all civic bodies in the State, the State BJP chief said that the partys first priority lies in choosing good candidates with a clean background for all the local municipal bodies which have completed their tenures and where elections are due.

According to party sources, for the first time, a BJP meeting was organised at Jhowdanga and Siddhartha Bhattacharya happens to be the partys first State president to address a large crowd of over 2,000 local residents in Dhubri district where general secretaries Bijoy Gupta and Phani Sarma were also present.
