GUWAHATI, May 27 - The inaugural session of the 14th Assam Legislative Assembly will be held from June 1 and is expected to conclude on June 3.
Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya has summoned the Assam Legislative Assembly to meet at 9 am on June 1 in the Assembly Chamber at Dispur.
The Governor has also appointed Phani Bhushan Choudhury, AGP MLA from Bongaigaon, as the pro-tem Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Choudhury will perform the duties of the office of the Speaker till the commencement of the first meeting of the 14th Assam Legislative Assembly on the June 1 and until a Speaker is elected by the said Assembly, said an official statement.
The three-day inaugural session will witness the Governor�s speech, oath taking by the newly elected MLAs, election of a new Speaker and a Deputy Speaker and selection of members for new Legislature committees.
