State armwrestling championship held

GUWAHATI, March 22 - The Armwrestling Association of Assam (AAA) has organised the 40th State championship at the Pandu College recently.

Altogether 150 players took part in the day-long championship which was inaugurated by the senior Assam Police officer Dilip Borah and Principal of the Pandu College Jayashree Baruah in presence of AAA secretary Pran Pratim Chaliha.

A 39-member Assam team was picked from the championship who will take part in the national championship to be held at Nagpur from May 20 to 24.

Jaspal Singh (men), Sapna Hazarika (women), Yusuf Khan (boys) and Tikendra Nath Deka (masters) won the champion of champions titles in the meet, stated a release.
