GUWAHATI, May 3 � International archer Pratima Boro has reportedly committed suicide at Pune this morning.
The talented archer, hailing from Fakiragram in Kokrajhar district, was a product of Tata Archery Academy. An employee of NF Railway, Pratima was in the Indian camp for the World Cup Championship which was going on at Army Sports Institute, Pune.
Informing about the incident, Assam Archery Association president Jayanta Boro said, this morning she was on the ground for practice session and after having breakfast during the break she returned to her room where she reportedly hung herself at a ceiling fan. Her postmortem was carried out this evening, informed Boro.
Pratima was at present No. 6 archer of the country. She also represented the Indian team in several international championships. She won gold medal in the Asian Grand Prix at Seoul in the year 2008. Counted as one of the most talented archers of the country, Pratima recently defeated national champion Dola Banerjee at Visakhapatanam.
Meanwhile officials of NF Railway have left for Pune to take stock of the incident. Her untimely death was mourned by the sports fraternity of the State.
