State aquatic meet gets off

GUWAHATI, June 14 � The 24th edition of the two-day Assam State Swimming Championship, organised by the All Kamrup District Swimming Association, under the guidance of Assam Swimming Association (ASA) got off at the BP Chaliha Swimming Pool in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here today.

Altogether 140 swimmers from districts like Kamrup, Jorhat, Sivasagar, Tezpur, Golaghat, Charaideo, NF Railway, Titabor, Bajali are taking part in the meet.

SAI city centre director in-charge Subhash Basumatary inaugurated the championship. ASA officials Ranjit Borgohain and Bhaskar Das were also present on the occasion.

Jorhat (18 gold, 15 silver, 10 bronze), Kamrup (15 gold, 15 silver, 16 bronze) and Sivasagar (4 gold, 6 silver, 3 bronze) are at the top three positions in the medal tally.
