GUWAHATI, April 10 - Dr RC Borpatragohain, senior advocate of the Gauhati High Court and currently serving as Advocate General of Assam interacted with the students of Royal School of Law and Administration (RSLA) on the topic Relevancy of Lateral Thinking in Jurisprudential Studies at the Royal Global University (RGU) here today, according to a press release.

Dr Borpatragohain stated that the world is a dynamic global village, change being the only constant, and law should be based on these changes. He said complacency in education and legal system would restrict the growth and involvement of social dynamism and lead to failure of the legal system. He also spoke on the jurisprudential philosophy behind the Basic Structure Doctrine which evolved in the Keshvananda Bharti case and Minerva Mills case.

Dr Borpatragohain also explained the philosophy behind the Triple Talaq judgement while sharing his experience as Advocate General. He further emphasised the lateral approach of thinking to implement the laws more effectively. He expressed his views regarding upliftment of sovereignty in its truest form, adding that lateral thinking is the need of the hour.

RGU Vice Chancellor Prof SP Singh in his speech said vertical thinking in the field of law or any other field restricts its growth and does not promote dynamism which is the need of the hour. He emphasised the importance of lateral thinking.
